TubExperto vs YouTube Ask (Gemini): 45 Days of Memory vs Memory Forever
A heads-up before we start, so two different comparisons on this blog don't get mixed up: this article compares TubExperto with the "Ask" button from Gemini that appears under the YouTube video player (an AI chat about the open video). If you are looking for the comparison against traditional YouTube search (the title, description and tag based search engine), that is a different Google tool and has its own article: TubExperto vs YouTube Search.
What YouTube Ask is
Google has built Gemini straight into YouTube: an "Ask" button between "Share" and "Download", under any video, that opens a chat panel about THAT specific video. It is free, needs nothing installed and reaches every YouTube user: the biggest distribution any competitor in this series could have, because it is the platform itself.
It can summarize the video, answer "when does he talk about the battery?" and jump to the exact moment: that is a citation to the second, but only inside the video you have open at that moment.
What YouTube Ask does NOT do, according to a source that tracks this feature
We cite a comparison dedicated to this very feature, with the caveat that Google rolls these features out in waves and they can change without notice: it deletes conversations after 45 days and "has no concept of a video library" (SkipTheWatch, "Ask YouTube vs Eightify, Glasp & NoteGPT", verified 26 Sep 2026). It does not proactively monitor channels: it is a one-off question tool, not a system that tells you when new content appears. No notes, no export, no multi-channel panel, no MCP. The deeper layer of search across the whole YouTube catalog requires YouTube Premium ($15.99/month in the US according to the press) and, at the date of this check, appears to be limited geographically.
Comparison table
| TubExperto | YouTube Ask (Gemini) | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free to start; paid for more | Free (deep layer: YouTube Premium) |
| Conversation memory | Forever | Deleted after 45 days¹ |
| Library of saved videos/channels | Yes | No such concept¹ |
| Follows a channel and tells you about new videos | Yes | No¹ |
| Compares several channels against each other | Yes (expert panel) | No |
| Citation to the second inside the open video | Yes | Yes, inside that video |
| Distribution | Requires sign-up | Native in YouTube, nothing to install |

Why this comparison is delicate, and why we make it anyway
Comparing with the very platform that hosts the videos is uncomfortable, and we say so plainly: we can't predict that Google won't improve this feature over time, and we don't rule out that one day it will solve these three gaps (memory, library, channel tracking). If that happens, we will update this article with the date of the change. Today, with data verified on 26 September 2026, the contrast is real on three specific points: no persistent memory, no library, no proactive channel tracking.
There is also a structural limit, not just a technical one: it is unlikely that Google wants YouTube Ask to compare two rival channels against each other inside its own platform. That is not a use case the host of both channels has any interest in encouraging.
When to use YouTube Ask instead of TubExperto
When you are watching a specific video right now and just want a one-off answer about it, with no need to come back to it tomorrow or compare it with anything else. It is free, right there, with no friction.
When to use TubExperto
When what you want does not end in one session: following a channel you really care about, having the expert remember what it already told you, and being able to compare what several channels say about the same topic. That is not what Gemini on YouTube is built to do today.
Try it yourself, no signup: open tubexperto.com/en/demo and ask a real channel a question before you decide.
