TubExperto vs Recall: Free MCP Is Not the Same as a Whole Channel

Recall (getrecall.ai / recall.it) is the only competitor in this series of comparisons that already gives away an MCP and API server on its completely free plan (recall.it/pricing, direct fetch, 26 Sep 2026). If your question is "why would I pay for a TubExperto paid plan if Recall gives me MCP for free?", the honest answer starts by admitting the fact: it is true, it does give it away. The difference is not the access channel, it is the content on the other side.

What Recall is, in one sentence

A personal knowledge manager ("second brain") that stores YouTube, podcasts, articles, PDFs, TikTok and Google Docs, summarizes them, connects them in an automatic graph and generates quizzes with spaced repetition. Its Product Hunt tagline: "AI gave everyone the same brain, Recall gives AI yours".

What Recall does better than TubExperto

Honestly: if you want one place where EVERYTHING you consume lands (a YouTube video, a Spotify podcast, a PDF, an article, a Google doc) and links itself into a graph as you browse, Recall does that and TubExperto does not try: TubExperto is specialized in YouTube channels, not generic knowledge management. Recall also has built-in spaced repetition for memorizing what you saved, a feature TubExperto does not have yet.

Where it falls short for the YouTube channel use case

It does not cite the exact second inside a video. Recall's graph connects ideas, but it does not take you to minute 8:42 of a specific video with one click, which is the core of what makes a TubExperto expert useful for checking a claim.

It does not follow a YouTube channel with auto-updates, and it has no panel of several experts comparing each other. You can save individual videos from a channel, but there is no "expert for that channel" that grows by itself with every new video, nor can you put two channels in a debate about the same topic.

The use case is broader and shallower. A general knowledge graph that mixes podcasts, PDFs and videos has its own value, but it means less YouTube-specific depth than a tool built only for that.

When to pick Recall over TubExperto

If your priority is a second brain that gathers ALL kinds of content (not just YouTube) with MCP and API from the first euro spent (zero, in fact, on its free plan), and you value spaced repetition for memorizing, Recall is the right tool for that job.

When to pick TubExperto

When what you really follow are specific YouTube channels and you want to question them with memory and exact citations to the second, and compare several of them in a debate panel: that is not in Recall's catalog, which solves a more general problem. And if what matters to you is access from your AI tools (Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT), TubExperto also offers MCP, with usage limits on the free plan, and WhatsApp on top. TubExperto's MCP connection is the only way third-party tools reach your experts: there is no public API.
