China Is Quietly Winning the AI Race

Coin Bureau

Resumen

This video examines how Chinese AI models like DeepSeek have rapidly captured the global developer market by prioritizing extreme cost-efficiency. While the US still holds the lead in high-end, complex reasoning tasks, American export controls inadvertently forced Chinese labs to innovate on hardware constraints, resulting in models that are significantly cheaper and more efficient. As a result, many US startups are now building on Chinese foundational engines to cut costs, creating a bifurcated market of luxury American AI and industrial Chinese AI. The video warns that the massive capital expenditure by US tech giants may be risky if their technological moat continues to shrink.

12 months ago, American AI models ran roughly 72% of all of the traffic on Open Router, the biggest marketplace developers use to plug into these systems. [music] Today, that number is 33%. And Chinese models, well, they now run the majority of it, somewhere north of 50% by most estimates and climbing fast. In the week ending June 21st, [music] Chinese models processed 21.37 trillion tokens on that platform. American models managed 5.76 trillion. Deepseek alone is now bigger than Google and OpenAI combined. But here's the twist almost nobody wants to say out loud. America's own export [music] controls actually forced China to win on the one thing that actually matters at scale, and that is price. So today, we break down how that 12-month collapse actually happened. Why some of America's hottest startups are now running on Chinese engines underneath and why the sanctions designed to Beiji…
